I am an amateur photographer and interested in experimenting with and producing 3d photos and 3d video images, in particular macro images of flowers and insects.
Thanks Jeff.
For this photo I used a Nikon 1 V1 camera and Canon EF50mm F/2.5 lens and Kenko x1.4 tc.
Camera hand held. iso at 800, 1/100 sec. A EOS to Nikon 1 adapter was used ( no glass ). Focusing and metering done manually. The EF50mm F/2.5 lens was preset to F/8 ( I used my Canon EOS40d to do this ).
The reason for using the Nikon 1 V1, is its low cost, and I wanted a reasonable quality camera ( near DSLR quality ) but with a smaller sensor for the improved dof for macro use. I take the photos in RAW and process them and convert to jpg for best results. Lately I bought a 10mm and 16mm extension tube for Nikon 1 system lens and have found I can get good results with using Nikon 1v1 camera and the Nikon 1 10-30mm lens ( which came with the camera ). With this arrangement I can get auto metering and auto focusing and get the same magnification as above. I am not using a flash, and find that I can work with an iso of 800 or 1600 and get reasonable results ( I remove the slight noise by using a slight gaussian blur in selected areas in Elements 11 ).
I move the camera sideways taking 5 photos per second. I then choose two which give me the necessary 3d effect.
With iso set to 800 the exposure time was 1/1000 sec for each shot. This was short enough to not cause significant blurring of the images.
