Yes, it was HDR tonemapped. It's single-image, though, not multiple exposures...

And cameras should be located on the wings and have variable distance.....

I never get tired of clouds but sometimes they are also very photogenic!

Yeah. Or even one camera looking sideways and feed to the glasses as two streams with time delay (the higher the altitude, the longer the delay)...

I wish that airliners would have two frontward-facing cameras, widely separated, and feeding the L and R images back to the passengers who could view the flight like this on a pair of VR goggles.
