I have been obsessed with 3D, ever since I was given my first View-Master in the 1970's. I've been an obsessive collector of all things stereoscopic ever since, and I've been taking my own 3D photos for the last 20 years or so.
You re right about the depth effect. Most 3d movies that come out these days have a sutle 3d effect. No popout 3d effects. They just try to look realistic and comfortable on the eyes. However in this case of toy story they went to far.

I was there the other day and a group of (I assume) photography students were swarming all over it with big SLR cameras, taking pictures of individual blades of grass, the wood grain on the benches - all kinds of weird and wonderful things.
I managed to catch this guy photographing the texture of the statue, and thought it made a fantastic photo. I don't think he noticed me, but even if he had, he could hardly have complained!
